For munchkins and those of us who like children's books: 10 Minutes Til Bedtime, The Day the Babies Crawled Away, Goodnight Gorilla all by Peggy Rathmann, The Gerald and Piggie books are all wonderful as are the Sandra Boynton books. Pssst by Adam Rex is also a good one - thanks Mollie.

For parents: The Read Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. Give Your Child a Superior Mind by S. Engelmann. This was published in 1966. I've only read the beginning which would be totally politically incorrect nowadays. I'll let you know if it is worth reading.
