Father's Day

Dad: considerate, sense of purpose in life, a constant determination to be a better person, willing to change, providing, presiding, protecting, brilliant mind, a built in calculator and Wikipedia in his head, hard worker, gardening and harvesting, plants, trees, flowers, nature, stars, curiosity, compassion, put through the refiner's fire with fortitude, beautiful eyes, hands of a healer, accepting of people (would never even wince at the most grotesque of diseases or faces for that matter), looking for the good, working on projects with a long brimmed hat, long-sleeved shirt and overalls, always looking sharp (thanks to Mom, wink, wink), never concerned about driving fancy cars, the latest gizmo or other status symbols, generous, reading to us, fulfilling church callings, integrity, many demands on time, watching The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show with us when we were young, reading to us kids, telling us stories, teaching us about what is really important in life, praying, blessing, always supporting Mom in her endless endeavors to give meals to the needy, rides to the handicap and elderly and every other struggling person in the neighborhood who the rest of us overlook, reading good books, singing Grandpa’s favorite country ballads and children’s songs, family vacations, rules of parenting (easier said than done I am realizing), taking us to grandparents every single Sunday, taking good care of both grandmas before they passed away, now a great support for me as a parent, and a great example, an uncle, a son, a father-in-law, a brother, a grandpa, a father.
