Jonathan is a unique little boy. He has certainly been difficult for me to parent since day 1. In some ways he is way beyond me. One of his attributes is that he is has the patience of Job when it comes to special sweets. This isn't something recent. I remember noticing this a year and a half ago at Christmas. We made a gumdrop/toothpick star and he wouldn't eat it for weeks saying that the star was something too special for him to eat. If he gets a treat at church he'll usually hold on to it for hours if not days before he eats it and sometimes he'll forget all about it. Today we went to great efforts to bake a chocolate cake and frost it. He was really excited about cleaning the bowl and must have had enough sugar licking because when we sat down to eat the cake, he pushed it away saying he wanted something healthy. What kid says that? I wonder if this will be a lasting trait.
